This is one of the best podcast applications out there if what you want is premium quality and experience. It is one of the best recommendations for Android users especially because of its excellent user interface and user experience. Pocket Casts is  Free / $0.99 per month / $9.99 per year

Pocket Casts used to be one of the easily recommended apps on any app list. It’s still an outstanding podcast player, but it’s not quite the easy recommendation it used to be. Pocket Casts has an excellent UI, good discoverability features, some power user features, and even some customization features like themes. It used to be a premium app, however it is now subscription based which makes ít a little difficult for us to recommend. Podcasts are now everywhere and free and as such only people who really enjoy the app features will make use of it.

However, we do not recommend it higher compared to many other applications out there because of its current issue — subscription. Although the UI and UX are good and you will also have access to the beautiful themes, the application is now quite expensive.    

7. Doggcatcher

DoggCatcher currently has support for things like Android Wear, Android Auto, and Chromecast. Additionally, it boasts a massive library of podcasts, playlist support, variable speed playback, themes, and various automation and customization features. It is one of the older podcast apps. However, it gets frequent updates.  The app even has Material Design. To use the doggcatcher app you have to pay $2.99 up front. However, there are no ads and no additional in-app purchases.

Podcast Addict is one of the most popular free podcast apps. It has a very peculiar feature aside from the normal Chromecast support, skip silence options, and so forth. It has SONOS support. It contains a massive library of podcasts, audiobooks, live streaming radio, and more. It even has support for YouTube and Twitch channels.  Although the UI looks just a little bad, it works well with tons of options for playlists, playback, and organization. The app is free but it also has advertising. There is an optional $2.99 pro version in the Google Play Store if you want to remove the ads. Podcast Addict is one of the best podcast apps.

I’m going to share with you various recommended apps that you can use on your mobile devices and listen to your favorite podcast while on the go. 



1. Google Podcasts 



This is pre-installed on Android phones and by default a podcast app for android phones that helps you find the best shows that suit your tastes with a homepage that directs you to popular podcasts based on genres and trendy topics or issues. 

Google Podcasts does not have a playlist but you can set up a queue to listen to podcasts in a particular order.


An interesting feature of this app is the "explore topics" section that uses Google's search technology to pull podcast content based on your keywords.

Google Podcasts is also an ad-free platform, you can use it if you don’t like all the ads popping up now and then or even interrupting your show.


2. Spotify 


Spotify started as a platform for streaming music, not podcasts. But that changed over the past few years. Now you can catch up on your favorite podcast and stream your favorite songs—all in one very unique app.


Spotify places podcasts in various categories, such as Storytellers, Sports & Recreation, and Comedy, and you can subscribe to individual podcasts, manage downloads, and share podcasts through social media. As the name implies, with Stitcher you can stitch your favorite podcasts together to create a custom playlist. You can download it for free but the ad-free version is $4.99/month.

Castbox is free while Premium is $0.99 per month which eliminates subscription limits, customize your homepage, and has access to customer support.

This app promotes podcast discovery and delivery for sports, news, and music, and speaks with more than 100,000 radio stations and some 4 million podcasts streaming from around the world. If you upgrade to TuneIn Premium you'll have access to live play-by-play of NFL, MLB, and Barclays Premier League games, ads-free music stations, and an audiobook library. 


The app supports Apple Watch and has several levels of premium in-app purchases for both platforms.


8. Luminary 


Luminary is another podcast that works well with Android and iOS. You can call this app the Netflix of podcasting because you can listen to all podcasts as well as a library of exclusive shows. For $4.99, subscribers gain access to Luminary’s restricted titles ad-free, while free-tier users can listen to a range of free podcasts.


To put it in another way, Luminary operates good podcasting app features, including search and discovery tools that glean from your listening habits, playback controls, and offline mode.


9. Overcast


 Marco Ament's Overcast provides a great combination of clean design and robust audio and podcast management features. Overcast masterfully handles episode playbacks and downloads, gets notified when a new episode drops and can play offline or through streaming; plus it has some friendly audio features. 


Voice Boost normalizes the sound levels of speech, automatically raising quiet voices and lowering loud ones. Smart Speed allows you to speed up play without distorting audio, cutting out silence or gaps.


This app is designed for iOS widgets with a lot of functions that make it easier to manage episodes of your favorite podcasts.


10. PodBean  

 Allows you to listen to your podcast in less time because you can cut out silence.
